A Man After God’s Own Heart

“I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” — Acts 13:22 (NIV)

King David’s life is one of the most inspiring stories in the Bible. He wasn’t perfect, but he had a heart that pursued God above everything else. As a young shepherd boy, he spent time in God’s presence, worshipping and trusting the Lord while caring for the sheep. His love for God was genuine and personal.

When David sinned, he didn’t make excuses—he came before God with humility and repentance, crying out, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10). His willingness to repent quickly showed the depth of his relationship with God.

Throughout his life, David faced giants, enemies, betrayal, and personal failure. Yet he always turned back to the Lord. His confidence was not in his own strength but in God’s faithfulness.

God is still looking for people like David—those who love Him sincerely, obey Him wholeheartedly, and trust Him completely. He’s not asking for perfection but for a heart that belongs fully to Him.

Prayer

Lord, give me a heart like David’s—one that loves You deeply, obeys You sincerely, and trusts You fully. Help me to walk closely with You every day, in both good times and hard times.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
